The Kind Heart Foundation is dedicated to empowering the voices and agency of low-income individuals in policy processes, with the goal of reducing poverty and inequality in Eastern Africa, specifically in Kenya. Since our establishment in 2028, we have been actively involved in broad civil society engagements and regional policy dialogues to ensure that the voices of the poor are recognized and that they can influence policies designed to combat poverty.

Among our initiatives, we focus on strengthening the voice and agency of marginalized groups by creating regional networks that advocate for credible and effective policy change. Our objective is to encourage regional integration and to support a cohesive regional agenda.

Impact & Innovation

We have initiated our first project in Samia, Busia County.

Empowering Communities through Sustainable Initiatives

Driven by a vision to foster self-sufficient communities, we aim to combat poverty and hunger through sustainable, community-focused solutions. According to Sithole, our strategy involves collaborating with communities by offering training and assisting local leaders in pinpointing solutions to urgent challenges. "Our goal is not to undermine or patronize communities by merely delivering aid, establishing programs, and then vanishing without a trace."

Bursary Program

The Kind Heart Foundation Bursary Programme was initiated to offer financial assistance to deserving students who wish to pursue higher education at tertiary institutions across the country. We are dedicated to the lifelong education and development of citizens. Our belief is that education is a key factor in fighting poverty and inequality.

Well-qualified and skilled citizens are essential to meet the current and future needs of the Kenya we aspire to live in. An educated nation significantly contributes to economic growth and meets the required levels of economic development for both present and future needs.

Social Justice

We have collaborated with social workers, and caregivers to achieve significant outcomes such as family reunifications, reintegrations into previous residences, career guidance, job searching, and the development of leadership skills.These efforts have been instrumental in fostering a supportive environment for families and individuals.By working together, we have created pathways for personal and professional growth.

Food Security

Our Food Security Program assists at-risk families by providing them with access to modern agricultural methods.This initiative aims to empower vulnerable households through innovative farming practices.

Economic empowerment

Reaching Out has sought to tackle this issue by implementing various initiatives, including providing assistance with maintenance applications and launching the economic empowerment project aimed at female survivors of domestic violence

Victim Empowerment,Sustainable Development and Employment Creation

We have availed an Advisory and Support Desk Centre,Economic Empowerment for female survivors of domestic violence and initiatives for poverty alleviation as well as a Mentorship Program.

Skills Training

We provide skills training in organic gardening, photography, sewing, cutting and design, computer training, business courses, and learner driving licenses, available to the general public at reduced rates for senior citizens, students, and the unemployed, along with bursaries. The skills training courses are offered at no cost to literacy learners, funded by contributions from the general paying public.Additionally, we offer a complimentary childcare facility for our learners, allowing them to attend classes with the assurance that their children are being cared for.

Crime Prevention

We motivate and arm youth with the resources to cultivate a sense of ownership regarding safety and justice, leading to impactful changes in their neighborhoods.

Beadwork

Our design, training, and sourcing process ensures the delivery of high-quality products.We engage women's groups in refining both product quality and design.
